We are located in beautiful Fairbanks, Alaska.  It is Alaska’s second-largest city – Hub of the Interior, Gateway to the Bush, the Golden Heart City.

Our "Jerusalem," the Fairbanks area, is home to just over 100,000 hearty souls that need Jesus Christ, making this region the second-largest population center in Alaska. The city features a university, an Army post, and an Air Force Base and is known for dog mushing, northern lights, and its extremes of light, dark, warmth, and cold. In winter, temperatures as low as -62 degrees have been recorded and we've seen Our 90's in the summer.  Winter nights are short, but summer days are nice and long when Fairbanks enjoys more than 22 hours of daylight when the solstice arrives on June 21.

Our Vision

Our vision is clear...To Prepare for Rain

In the movie Facing the Giants, Grant Taylor, a discouraged football coach at Shiloh Christian Academy, gets an unexpected spiritual lesson from Mr. Bridges, a prayer warrior.  When the coach tells Mr. Bridges "I just don't see God at work here," the prayer warrior responds with a story:

"Grant, I heard a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain.  Both of them prayed for        rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it.  Which one do you                think trusted God to send the rain?"

"Well, the one who prepared his fields for it."

"Which one are you?  God will send the rain when He is ready.  You need to prepare your field           to receive it."

First Baptist Church has been called to prepare for rain.  We welcome our new Associate Pastor Jackie Combs and his family, so we can be prepared for the rain.  We welcome our Worship Ministry Team, so we can be prepared for rain.  We are seeking God's servants called to lead our Children's Program...so we can be prepared for rain.  We are praying every day for guidance and direction so that we can be prepared for rain.

Join us as we await God's blessings and bring your umbrellas... you need to be prepared for rain.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple.  Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth...starting in our own backyard.

Matt 28:17-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
